During parents evenings a few parents expressed an interest in activities to develop mental maths and maths basics in general. Obviously there are lots of excellent resources that help support the curriculum out there, and stores like Magrudys will stock activity books and resources that will help reinforce children's understanding of the new national curriculum, as well as giving opportunities to extend outside of the classroom.
One set of books that have an app that works alongside it well are the Andrew Brodie Basics range of 'Let's do Mental Maths'
The app itself lets children engage in a range of activities and uses repetition on key aspects to reinforce what they are doing. They can also make the questions easier, should they need to.
The app keeps track of how they are doing in their results, and can suggest areas for development. You can find the apps here on this link to the bloomsbury site. Tell us what you think of them! (An android release is due, but not out yet) Comments are closed.
