This week in Science we are learning about electrical conductors and insulators. What do you already know? What can you find out by interacting with the activities below? Over the course of the next few weeks we will be learning about the Anglo-Saxons and you will be using your own ICT skills to populate a Padlet page you have been given. The image links will become active on this page as soon as we set the tasks and you'll then be asked to add text, images and web links to your Padlet pages. You may only populate the pages belonging to your class and will have to take care to structure the pages well, so that all the content can be seen! You could have a go at creating your own Padlet pages by signing up to it and adding your own content. https://padlet.com/ Good Luck!

Listen to the audio below and watch these videos to learn about what 'Selkies' are. We'll be looking at them in more detail in class.

Have you seen the animation 'Song of the sea'? It's a beautiful animation made in Ireland and was released in 2014.
Watch the scene below and the song below that to try and figure out the what's special about the young character, Saoirse. Keep track of what they're doing with photos from the trip on this blog. It is all dependent on network connectivity in Dibba, but hopefully we can update a few pictures each day to see just how much fun we're all having! The pictures will be available on here after the trip if we are unable to load them from the site, and Mr Jones will create a shared area that people can send their own photos too, should you want to share them!
Dear Mums and Dads,
We are all so excited in Year 4 this week, as it is almost time to go on our trip to Dibba. As you can only imagine, all of the teachers here, are counting the days till we take part in an exciting sleep-over with 100 boys and girls, under the desert stars. The ten lucky teachers are busily preparing the children, for what will be their first ever residential school trip and we have been talking a lot with the children this week, about what it all entails. This can be a daunting experience for children and their parents but be assured that all of us have been on trips before and your children will be made feel comfortable and confident away from home for the three days. They have been asking many questions during our chats and are thus, very aware of what is involved in the trip. The children will be able to tell you how important it is for them to pack their bags, alongside you, as they need to know what is packed for them, in the bag. We advise you to label everything, including shoes, with a permanent marker as this avoids unnecessary stress when things get lost or misplaced. A very challenging activity, is fitting the sleeping bag into its holder so it would be wise to practise this exercise a few times! Mrs Jones is still trying that one at home, all week..... As the weather is somewhat cooler, please pack a jumper. Sun cream is necessary and again, the application of it needs to be practised at home, in readiness. Snorkelling equipment is not necessary as there will be water games instead of this activity. The children must bring a packed lunch on Sunday, in a plastic bag. They may also bring treats to eat for the three days, but resist fizzy drinks and chocolate. No electronic equipment is allowed and card games, Top Trumps etc. are super alternatives. Cameras are allowed but are the sole responsibility of the pupil. We appreciate that you will be quite anxious to know how we are getting on and what we have been doing each day. We will have regular updates on the Blog of course, as is customary for us to do in Year 4 and we also will send updates to Mr Czerpak in BSAK, who will send these items to you via Twitter. We will have all of your phone numbers with us, should the need arise to contact any of you. We are delighted to have this opportunity to build upon our existing knowledge of your child, in a different setting, other than the classroom. It affords both the teachers and the children a fun filled and creative environment, an outdoor learning experience that allows every child to develop. We will challenge our pupils in a safe, fun and friendly environment through a series of activities aimed to meet certain learning outcomes. To quote Winnie the Pooh: 'let the adventure begin......!' Sincerely and in anticipation, Year 4 Team. Please click on the link below to open a PDF of the Dibba Trip information booklet for Year 4 - 2016
Depending on connectivity in Dibba, we will set up an account to upload pictures to follow on the blog, updated each day. Hopefully this will work by following this page, but again, it is dependent on the connectivity available while in Dibba. Fingers crossed!
