Dear parents,
As part of our World Book Day celebrations, we're running a veritable whizzpopper of a creative writing competition for children in KS1 & 2! (Please see the attached flyer) A BSAK Adventure We would like to invite the children to imagine their favourite character visiting BSAK for the day. (This can, of course, be the character they are dressed up as, but it doesn't have to be; as always, they should be guided by whatever is the most fun - to write, to read, to share.) Details
Finally, I want to express our huge thanks to you all for your support with World Book Day. It is always a highlight of the year and a day the children remember, but it wouldn't be without the hard work the parents put in, especially thinking up/making/sourcing/adjusting/refitting/repairing/perfecting costumes for the day. As always, we greatly appreciate all you do - so thank you. Any questions or queries, don't hesitate to ask. Many thanks, kind regards and... happy writing! Use the Video link to see how to create a World to share with your friends. As part of our Early Islamic Civilisation tpic Year 4 will be studying the changes that have occurred in Abu Dhabi in the last 45 years, observing the architecture of past, present and future. Year 4 will be engaging with Minecraft during their Computing sessions and learn how to access a server, how to write code to make things happen and how to collaborate with others to achieve an objective. We are currently working on developing Abu Dhabi in the future and the children are excited to get started. They will need to be brilliant collaborators, assigning tasks and responsibilities in groups. Good Luck! We will post updates of our progress! So lovely to see some Year 4 students reading in the French corner during break time! Remember to check out the schedule on the French classroom door.
Year 4 have had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque over the past few days. The Mosque visit was a huge success and the children behaved impeccably. Mrs Robb was delighted to hear the guides who extolled to her, the virtues of our English school and its children who were so intelligent, well informed and so interested in the topic. Have a look at the photo slideshow below to see what it was like there. Can you add some facts you may have learnt to the comments section? Year 4 Crimson and Maroon were thrilled to visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque this morning as part of their current topic based on the 'Early Islamic Civilisation!' The Tour Guide was highly informative and the children were well prepared with a variety of questions to ask. They found out many interesting facts, which hopefully they will comment on here!
Year 4 had a wonderful Sports day this morning where they took part enthusiastically in a range of exciting events including Nerf throw, shot putt and a plethora of short and long distance events. A huge congratulations to all of the Year 4 pupils for taking part in such a sporting way and cheering on their fellow students. In addition, many thanks to all of the PE department for organising it and all of the parents for coming to watch. Congratulations to Year 4 Ruby who came 1st closely followed by 2 points behind Year 4 maroon. Year 4 were treated to a wonderful talk by Sura in Y4R and her family Mr and Mrs Sammurae this morning all about early Islamic Scholars. They learnt some fantastic information and facts about the father of surgery Abū al-Qāsim Khalaf ibn al-‘Abbās al-Zahrāwī and other influential scholars from the past who have influenced our lives today.
