We were very lucky today as Aila Danish brought her mummy and daddy to school. They are both doctors here in Abu Dhabi and her daddy spoke to us about the ear, linking to our learning in Science this term. He talked to us about the outer ear, middle ear and inner ear and even had some of the children to demonstrate the different parts. There were some fabulous questions and answers once again from the Year 4 students. Thank you so much for coming Dr and Dr Danish!

Year 4 would like to extend a huge thank you to Robbie March's Dad who came into school today to talk to us about being a newspaper editor and journalist. He works for The National and shared some valuable insights into how to get the best story for a newspaper, how the team of journalists and editors decide on which stories to include and much, much more. He was impressed with the quality questions that the children asked. If you have any more questions children, add them to the comments section! As we have been looking at the features of 'Newspapers' in Year 4, we were extremely lucky to have a special visitor this afternoon to inform us even more! Mrs Hill, a freelance Journalist for 'The National' newspaper (Maria's mum in Scarlet!) told us so much information about her exciting occupation and many interesting stories about her inspiration for writing. We were given the opportunity to ask a variety of both open and closed questions and will look out for many more of her articles in the future! Thank you, Mrs Hill!
Year 4 have had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Over the past few days.
Mosque visit was a huge success and Abdulraheem was a star, telling the guide lots of things in Arabic about the mosque, which she translated into English for us.Mrs Al Mehairbi was delighted to hear the guides who extolled to her, in Arabic, the virtues of our English school and its children who were so intelligent, well informed and so interested in the topic. Have a look at the photo slideshow below to see what it was like there. Can you add some facts you may have learnt to the comments section? The slideshow below shows all the features that you may find in Newspaper reports, or indeed online reports/news articles. We will be looking at creating our own reports based on the Titanic, can you identify some of the features from the reports linked below? As part of the whole school look at our vision and values, the children in Year 4 have been working collaboratively to decide what is important to them about our school. The children worked really sensibly and were able to make good decisions about the words that describe our school and what the vision should reflect. Well done Year 4! Year 4 have a wonderful opportunity to visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque next week as part of their curriculum. Please find a copy of the letter below detailing timings and days that each class will go. Use the links below to find out a little more about it!Mrs Bell, Mrs Clarke and her mother have been working very hard to do the impossible, raise the Titanic! They've worked tirelessly to achieve this fantastic display. Brilliant work ladies, the new Harland and Wolff. Thank you so much!
